Jesus asks himself: «To whom then can I compare the people of this generation? Who is he similar to?". Addressing those who listened to him, he continued by saying that they are like those children who react instinctively and egocentrically. What matters is not what they see and hear, but what they feel. It is their “I” that counts, nothing else. He says: «For John the Baptist came, who neither eats bread nor drinks wine, and you say: “He is possessed by demons”. The Son of Man came, eating and drinking, and they said: "Behold, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners". The Gospel frees us from the slavery of ourselves and gives us the ability to look beyond, to recognize God's plan for the world, to grasp the "signs of the times", those signs that God inscribes in human history so that we are helped to direct it towards good. This is the "wisdom" that God came to give us: to take part in his great plan of love for the world. There is no more time to waste in complaining or getting irritated: it is time to commit our time and our strength to building the kingdom.
