The Twelve are not sent to teach a new doctrine, but to establish a new kingdom, to achieve the liberation of men from the slavery of sin and death. Jesus gives them power over "all" demons. Yes, all slavery must be driven out. The announcement of the Gospel of the kingdom begins with facts, that is, with clear events of liberation, with evident signs of a new time, a time of mercy, of love, of justice, of peace. The Christian faith is not an ideology that contrasts with others, it is not a thought for particular people, perhaps for some heroes of asceticism. Faith is transforming: it changes the hearts of those who choose to respond to Jesus' call. And from new hearts a new story is born. The Christian faith does not confine oneself to avaricious individualism. On the contrary, it pushes us to transform history to bring closer the kingdom of love that Jesus came to inaugurate. The Twelve – Luca notes – «went out and went from village to village». Every believer is called to follow Jesus to communicate the same Gospel. This mission requires stripping oneself and one's own protagonism.
